Taiwan, Taichung mission: Letter 8

Dear family and friends,

How's everyone this week? I have a very good and busy week.

Firstly we have a duan chuan (temporal missionary) with us for a  week as I mentioned in my last week letter. Her name is sister Bi. She is only 18 years old. I love how diligent and great passion she has for the missionary work. I love how she applied what she learnt right away on the day and willing to really talk to everyone. Her great example reminded me this is how a true missionary of the Lord should be. I have been humbled serving with her.

Then we finally met our new mission President and her wife. Though we only have about an hour to get to know them, I know they are gonna make a lot of good chances to the mission and I'm excited about that. Just a brief introduction about Pre. and Sis Blickenstaff : Pre.Blickenstaff was a surgeon and he served in Taipei 35+ years ago. He was a stake president before he receiveed this calling as mission president. Sis.Blickenstaff is an American born Chinese. Her parents came from China. Both of them can speak Chinese pretty good consider they only just came out. They have 6 children and 1 of them passed away when she was 3. Both of them are grateful and have strong testimony about the plan of salvation. Their youngest daughter is in MTC right now going to serve in Korea.Too bad we didn't have time to take picture with them. Hopefully sometimes in the future we will have the chance to take picture together so you guys can see them. Both of them look really young. Pre.Blickenstaff gave me a few good advices/encouragements in the interview which help me to maintain the high expectation of myself. One of them being, no anything new, feast upon the words of Christ. I am ashamed to say that I haven't been doing that very well before my mission but now I have great testimony (again) that the words of God truly is the way to uplift our spirit and help us overcome all concerns/trials/afflictions in life. Nothing is more powerful to convert a person than using the scriptures, therefore, as a servant of the Lord of course I need to know them well and applied them in my daily life.

By the way, some friends and family were asking about the Typhoon in Taiwan, I am safe! It actually didn't affect my area. We only have heavy rain here in Gao Xiong. So no worries, the Lord is looking after me pretty well.

Scriptures for this week :2 Nephi 31:20 - 20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a asteadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of bhope, and a clove of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and dendure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eeternal life.

Take a moment to think about: what have you been doing to help you increase your faith in Jesus Christ each day?

Thanks to all the emails and letters I got. Keep updating me the adventures in your life and also some spiritual moments.

I hope you all have a good week.
